OREANDA-NEWS. Alstom Grid has been awarded a contract by Infratek Finland Oy to supply a 245 kV gas-insulated swithgear to Fingrid’s Pet?j?skoski substation, located in Rovaniemi, Northern Finland. Alstom’s delivery consists of six B105 bays (245 kV, 31.5 kA, 3150 A).

The Pet?j?skoski substation is currently being upgraded to improve the security system as part of the existing development plan for the transmission grid in Lapland. It plays an important connection, supporting increasing energy demands in Northern Finland.  Electricity consumption in the region has seen an increase over the years, primarily due to tourism, increase in housing and mining industry.

The B105 is the most advanced 245 kV gas-insulated swithgear (GIS) from Alstom Grid. The B105 features the highest availability on the market and the lowest maintenance requirements. The GIS will be engineered, manufactured and tested at Alstom Grid’s factory in France and delivered to Finland in November 2015.

Infratek is responsible for the turnkey construction of the substation, valued at approximately €11 million. It is one of Fingrid’s largest substation projects to date. This is the second project that Alstom is working with Infratek, having delivered Fingrid’s V?h?nummi substation a 123 kV gas insulated substation in 2014. The Pet?j?skoski GIS is one step higher in voltage level and project size.

Risto Peltola, Country Sales Director, Alstom Grid, said, “We are pleased to re-enter the GIS market in Finland. It is clear that our efforts in R&D are paying off and that our products are bringing added value to our customers. Our continued partnership with Infratek has proven to be a successful formula for this project.
