OREANDA-NEWS. DB Schenker Logistics is the first 3PL worldwide implementing CarryPick, an AGV (Automatic Guided Vehicles) based goods to man picking and automated packaging solution, as part of its strategy to strengthen its position in the e-commerce logistics.

The CarryPick solution is part of the Swisslog Click&Pick® e-commerce portfolio. Combined with an integrated parcel delivery system, the solution is currently being implemented for Lekmer.com, one of Scandinavia’s largest online toy retailers. Core of the solution are self-driving robots which bring mobile racks to the picking stations.

“The CarryPick solution is a new addition to our E-Commerce strategy and complements our existing solutions for dedicated e-commerce customers and for omni-channel operations, which we successfully offer and operate for some of the world’s most renown electronics and consumer leading brands,” says Tim March, Head of Consumer VM for Contract Logistics at DB Schenker. “We aim to potentially leverage and implement the CarryPick solution in selected markets worldwide for customers with large online business, who are looking for faster order processing and significant productivity/efficiency improvements at lower handling costs,” he continues.

Next to the online order fulfillment activities, DB Schenker E-commerce product portfolio includes an online returns processing solution, (considering the much higher number of returns in online sales compared to brick-and-mortar sales) and additional WebShop and customer service center solutions that can also added to the overall solutions we provide to our customers.
