OREANDA-NEWS. The main production building, chemical and finished products storages, transformer substation, compressor station, fire station have been put into commercial operation. The facilities were undergoing comprehensive testing since the last summer; later they were launched in pilot operation mode. The facilities also passed acceptance inspection by Rostekhnadzor.

JSC Khiagda employs the most promising, cost-effective and environmentally friendly in-situ recovery method. Treatment of pregnant solutions with subsequent extraction of natural uranium takes place in the main production building. "Commissioning of the entire complex reflects gradual growth in uranium production. Presently deposits of Khiagda field are being developed. From 2015 to 2018, we will gradually commence operations at deposits of Istochnoye and Vershinnoye fields. If in 2014 JSC Khiagda produced 442 tons of uranium, in 2015 finished products output will reach 508 tons. Hopefully by 2018 we will be able to fully load the new equipment and annually produce 1,000 tons of the metal needed by the country"- said General Director of JSC Khiagda Alexei Dementiev.

Now documents are being prepared to obtain statement of conformity for the construction of Phase II facilities, including power complex, internal water supply networks, sodium nitrite production and storage site. Construction and installation of sulfuric acid plant is being completed.
