OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk addressed to the Chairman of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine to speed up the development of a new edition of the law on economic competition: "We are ready to defend at the Parliament the need to adopt a new competition law to combat noncompetitive actions," the PM underlined while presenting new head of the Antimonopoly Committee Yurii Terentyev on Monday, May 25.

The Prime Minister recalled that this bill should have been submitted by November this year. He also appealed to the Ukraine’s AMC to speed up its submission to the Government: "As soon as you are ready to offer a new bill on economic competition for a Cabinet’s decision, we will submit it immediately to the Parliament - we are at your service. The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Finance Ministry and Justice Ministry have already received orders."

This law, Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized, should provide transparency and efficiency of the Antimonopoly Committee: "To avoid discussions regarding delaying consideration of issues, lack of invitation of a person under the antimonopoly investigation, for example, to the meetings of the Antimonopoly Committee."

The Prime Minister appealed to the AMC to consult with European partners on legislation to address a number of issues, a clear list of which is provided by the Association Agreement with the EU: "If Government’s decisions are needed – you are welcome. Issues that require the decisions of the Parliament - we are ready to defend at the Parliament the need to adopt a new competition law to combat noncompetitive activities."
