OREANDA-NEWS. June 05, 2015. Decrease in passenger car production in Russia in 2015 will come up to 18%-20%, truck production will reduce by 20%-25%. That is stated in the monitoring of development of the sectors of the Russian economy in April 2015, prepared by Ministry of Economic Development.

According to Prime agency, the sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) in Russia decreased by 41.5% to 132,456 vehicles in April. According to AEB statistics, 516,135 vehicles were sold in Russia in January-April 2015, which is 37.7% less than a year ago. The Association forecasts 24.2% decrease in sales of new passenger cars and LCV in Russia in 2015 - to 1.89 million units.

At the beginning of 2015, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov estimated automotive market decline in 2015 at 10%. Forecasts of market participants and analysts are less optimistic. Most of them agree that no more than 1.5 million new cars and LCVs will be sold this year. So, the market will reduce by 40% during the year.  

"In order to ensure sustainable growth of the automotive industry in medium-term prospects, new instruments of state regulation will be required, such as support of export and replacement of existing parc of vehicles," – the Ministry’s  document states.
