OREANDA-NEWS. JSC RusHydro (ticker symbol: MOEX, LSE: HYDR; OTCQX: RSHYY) announces that the reservoir of the Boguchanskaya hydropower plant (a 50/50 JV of RusHydro and UC RUSAL) has been filled to its design level of 208 m above sea level.

The plant may now reach its full capacity of 2,997 MW and produce 17.6 TWh of electricity per year, which will allow to commission the Boguchansky aluminum smelter and other infrastructure facilities in the Low Angara region.

Starting from the second decade of May 2015, the plant has been operating in a mode allowing to maintain navigation in the river below the dam. Currently, water inflow to reservoir of the Boguchanskaya station amounts to 2,840 m3/s.

The design maximum capacity of the reservoir is 2,326 km3 spreading over Krasnoyarsk and Irkutsk regions, its full volume – 58.2 km3, length – 375 km. The design maximum reservoir level is 209.5 m. The power plant will be able to regulate the water level using two spillways: deep-water and overland.
