OREANDA-NEWS. This annual event recognises excellence in the rail industry and is regarded as the “Oscars” for those working in the sector. London Liverpool Street station was judged by an independent panel as an outstanding example of a station which is customer-friendly, has excellent retail facilities and helpful staff.

Network Rail’s station manager, Adrian Gogay, said: “The entire team is delighted that our station has been recognised for delivering outstanding service to passengers who travel through Liverpool Street station.

“We manage one of the busiest stations in the country and want to ensure that all our passengers find it clean, bright and welcoming and have clear journey information with friendly staff on hand to help. That takes a lot of time, energy, effort and commitment, so it is very rewarding when that is recognised.”

A project is now underway at Liverpool Street station to build a new and improved ticket office and waiting room, improved toilet facilities and new retail units, which are set to open next year.

The current ticket office is set to be relocated to platform 10 and this space will then be converted into a new caf? and retail area on the main concourse and at street level, providing a better mix of retail and food and beverage offers for passengers.
