OREANDA-NEWS. Severstal, one of the world’s leading vertically integrated steel and steel-related mining companies, hosted the 2015 International SAP Metals & Mining Summit, which took place in Moscow and Cherepovets.  Severstal’s CFO, Alexey Kulichenko, spoke at the event along with Aleksandr Kirillov, CEO Advisor, Kai-Uwe Gundermann, Head of SCM Department, Alexey Podkolzin, MES Project Manager, and Pavel Smirnov, Senior Manager of the Maintenance Department.

During the plenary session, Alexey Kulichenko spoke on Severstal’s “Customer Focus Strategy” aimed at improving customer care. He emphasized the need for a change in business culture, to improve competition in the metals market with more focus on customer satisfaction and restructuring related business processes.

Severstal also discussed the role of Information technology in achieving strategic goals, such as improving customer focus, in areas ranging from production and logistics to document management and CRM-systems. The Company spoke on best practices in integrated planning and ferrous metallurgy production, operational planning and maintenance services using SAP mobile solutions, and also risk management and control procedures as part of the SKIF project.

The second day of the Summit consisted of a visit to the Cherepovets metallurgical plant. Conference participants observed the [mill’s] planning systems and mobile maintenance service, and SKIF costs control system. They also visited the Cherepovets Metallurgy Museum opened by Severstal in summer 2015.

The International SAP Metals & Mining Summit is an event dedicated to information technology and aimed at improving business transparency, reducing costs, optimizing production, and creating new services for customers and employees. Severstal supported the Summit’s first ever event in Russia.
