OREANDA-NEWS. Delta has been honored with three prestigious World Travel Awards: United States’ Leading Airline to Central America; United States’ Leading Airline to South America; and United States’ Leading Airline to Mexico.

The awards were announced Saturday at the WTA Latin American Gala Ceremony in Bogot?, Colombia. Delta won its first World Travel Award in 1996, and has received numerous awards since.

"We would like to thank the World Travel Awards and the thousands of people that voted for us in each category for recognizing Delta's efforts to become the best U.S. airline in Latin America,” said Nicolas Ferri, Delta's Vice President-Latin America and the Caribbean. “These awards are the result of the dedication of the entire Delta team and our consistent investments in products, routes and airport facilities made to transform how we serve Latin America and the Caribbean.”

With more than 1,200 weekly flights between the United States and Latin America and the Caribbean, serving 31 countries and 48 destinations in the region, Delta provides a comprehensive route network that meets regional customers’ needs, whether they want to relax or do business. World Travel Awards recognized Delta?s focus on meeting the demands of the Central America, South America and Mexico markets.

“We invest in understanding our customers’ needs and focus efforts on what is more valuable to them; every day we work to be closer to the Latin markets strengthening the quality of all our services,” Ferri said. “We understand that when flying internationally, some things are important for them to feel the comforts of home. Our Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking flight crew, custom "Latin inspired" menus and regional in-flight entertainment are all meant to ensure our customers to enjoy their trip with Delta.”

Delta’s growth in Latin America and the Caribbean can be seen also in the strength of its strategic alliances with GOL Linhas A?reas Inteligentes which provide customers access to 99 percent of domestic demand points throughout Brazil—more than any other U.S. airline. In Mexico, Delta’s customers have access to a large network of flights to the interior of the country. Likewise, the alliance with Aerol?neas Argentinas increases Delta’s offerings in South America.

The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry.

“It was an honor to present Delta Air Lines with not one, not two, but three prestigious World Travel Awards in Bogot?,” said World Travel Awards President Graham Cooke. “Voters from across Latin America have recognized the outstanding service provided by this industry leading carrier. I look forward to welcoming the whole Delta team to Morocco later in the year, when the airline will compete for our global titles at the World Travel Awards Grand Final."
