OREANDA-NEWS. The I-CVUE Project (Incentives for Cleaner Vehicles in Urban Europe) held its first workshop on the 13 November 2015, focusing on innovation, with the spotlight on electric-taxis and the experiences some of the associations that have utilised e-taxis have had. IRU’s Global Taxi Network was also showcased as a prominent example of innovation in the taxi sector. In addition to an exchange of experiences on electric-taxis and featured innovations, the challenges and obstacles related to the process of adopting e-taxis were discussed in detail during the day.

The EU funded I-CVUE Project aims to support the adoption of electric vehicles across Europe. It will also replace 1000 conventionally fuelled vehicles used by different taxi companies and car-sharing fleets with electric vehicles. In addition the project provides mentoring for fleet operators on the transition to electric vehicles.

IRU projects will organise additional workshops for the taxi sector in 2016 in other European cities.
