OREANDA-NEWS. The Prime Minister of Ukraine considers it necessary to appeal to EU member states and the United States to create a permanent international anti-corruption mission in Ukraine for the next two years. The Head of the Government stated this at the International Anti-Corruption Conference “Preventing. Fighting. Acting” on Monday, 16 November.

"We need our partners from the European Union and the United States to delegate permanently based investigators from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, law enforcement agencies of individual member states of the European Union who would take over assistance to all law enforcement agencies of Ukraine for organizing anti-corruption measures as well as probing corruption cases which appear in the media and in the form of statements by representatives of various law enforcement bodies," emphasised the Prime Minister.

He stressed the need to provide this mission on the basis of joint memoranda and, if necessary - changes to legislation, - with access to databases of the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Anti-Corruption Agency, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, the State Bureau of Investigation, as well as the General Prosecutor's Office.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk also offers to empower this international anti-corruption mission to initiate criminal proceedings on corruption cases outside Ukraine, "If such corrupt offences are carried out by Ukrainian officials outside Ukraine, where there are foreign companies, foreign ownership and foreign accounts."

An international anti-corruption mission, according to the Prime Minister, will enable Ukraine, in particular, to avoid the problems being faced by some member states of the European Union in the first stage of formation of anti-corruption bureaus.

"In order to pass this stage effectively, we need international support - both in an anti-corruption mission and in increasing social standards and wages for those in Ukraine who are fighting corruption and are able to carry out reforms," said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
