OREANDA-NEWS. Vitalie Tarlev, the Deputy Minister of Information Technology and Communications had a meeting with Traian Turcan, Head of the National Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the Republic of Moldova.

The discussions were focused on the documentation process of refugees and beneficiaries of humanitarian protection, including the conditions necessary to receive applications according to the International Conventions in the field. At the same time, during the meeting there were discussed the aspects on the necessity to develop inter-institutional normative and technical documents in order to solve special cases, which, currently, are not regulated by the legal and regulatory framework.

The UN official highly commended the MITC initiative and effort to fulfill the Plan of Soviet passports change for people who didn’t manage for various reasons to apply for acts issued by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova, after the latter obtained its independence – the fact that substantially reduced the risks of statelessness formation in our country and the good example that is worth following in several countries in the region.

We would like to mention that the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications collaborates with the National Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the field of statistical record and documentation of refugees and stateless persons in the Republic of Moldova.
