ADB: 17th meeting of the ALSF Management Board to plan for 2016
OREANDA-NEWS. The 17th Meeting of the Management Board of the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) will be held in Abidjan, C?te d'Ivoire on November 27, 2015 at the African Development Bank Group headquarters.
Its main objective is to discuss the work plan and budget for 2016, as well as assess key achievements of projects implemented by the ALSF.
To date, the ALSF is working in partnership with a number of African governments in implementing over 70 projects in 35 Regional Member Countries. The projects are in the areas of negotiations of agreements in infrastructure developments; debt management and litigation, extractives sector, the energy sector; investment agreements and related commercial and business transactions.
Under its capacity building and knowledge management strategic pillars, the ALSF aims to enhance the capacity of both public and private sector lawyers in Africa.
Through a number of innovative approaches, the ALSF is committed to enhancing legal capacity on the continent. These approaches include the Public Private Partnership hotline and the African Mining Legislation Atlas, a web-based platform which collects all of Africa’s mining laws and regulations.
This year the ALSF in collaboration with other institutions developed a handbook for facilitating negotiations of Power Purchase Agreements intended to enable access of private sector in the energy sector.
The Management Board is responsible for the efficient and effective running of all of ALSF’s operations. It comprises five members of high integrity and competence, who act in their individual capacity, and are appointed by the Governing Council.
