OREANDA-NEWS. Sberbank's Yuzhny Port Data Processing Centre (DPC) has been certified under Uptime Institute's "Operational Sustainability" programme and awarded a Tier III Gold certificate.

The use of procedures and regulations that comply with Uptime Institute's standards allow the effectiveness of operational management of engineering systems to be increased, reduces the influence of the human factor and thereby increases the reliability of critical automated systems that use IT equipment.

"The Gold level certificate is proof of the highest possible compliance with Uptime Institute's standards," commented Nikita Volkov, Senior Vice-President of Sberbank. "Today our Yuzhny Port DPC is among the top 10 data processing centres in the world and is number one in Russia among industrial-scale corporate DPCs in the financial sector that have been awarded Gold certificates."

Uptime Institute is the developer of Tier Classification System standards for designing, building and launching processing centres, as well as the author of Operational Sustainability standards for process management and operation of DPCs. These standards are used in 60 countries.

Yuzhny Port DPC was launched in 2012.The centre's machine rooms have an overall area of 5,000 m2 and house 1,800 server racks. Yuzhny Port DPC has an electrical output of 20 MVA. The solutions which have been used in the DPC ensure that the centre is extremely reliable and functions without downtime. In addition, they are based on high performance energy saving technology that complies with global best practices.

Yuzhny Port DPC has received a number of international awards, including a Green Enterprise IT Award in 2012 (GEIT) for "Facility Design Innovation" and DatacenterDynamics Award in 2012 for "Innovation in The Mega Data Center".
