OREANDA-NEWS. January 22, 2016, as part of UIA’s program of fleet renewal and expansion Ukraine International Airlines received the Boeing 737-800 aircraft. In 2016 the carrier plans to expand fleet with six aircraft.

Being UIA 27th Boeing aircraft, the newly-received Boeing 737-800 has passed an official registration procedure in Ukraine and received the registration number UR-PSM. The aircraft was produced in 2010 and has maximum passenger capacity of 186 seats. The aircraft was previously operated by Norwegian Air Shuttle.

“We are glad to have launched the fleet renewal program. As part of the program we plan to receive six Boeing 737NG aircraft. Simultaneously, we will keep withdrawing classic medium-haul Boeing 737 aircraft from operation. We plan to withdraw all classic aircraft by the end of 2018. Therefore, in 2019 the UIA fleet will consist of Boeing 737NG, Boeing 767 and Embraer 190 aircraft, – noted Yevgen Churyumov, UIA Fleet Projects Manager. – Fleet renewal will enable UIA to provide passengers with maximum convenience, to improve flight regularity rates, to significantly increase passenger capacity and, consequently, to better meet passengers` demand for the most popular destinations”.

UIA operates Boeing aircraft since the airline`s foundation in 1992. Ukraine International Airlines' fleet currently consists of 32 modern aircraft: long-haul Boeing 767-300ER, medium-haul Boeing 737NG, medium-haul classic Boeing 737 (including one freighter 737-300SF), and medium-haul Еmbraer 190 aircraft.
