OREANDA-NEWS  In February, coal production in Russia fell to a minimum, falling by 1.8 percent compared to January and by 0.7 percent compared to August last year, to 34.6 million tons. Vedomosti writes about this with reference to Rosstat data.

In January, the volume of production in annual terms still showed an increase of 1.7 percent. At the same time, coal exports fell by eight percent to 14.6 million tons in the same month.

At that time, all major customers — China, India and Turkey - reduced purchases of Russian coal. The drop in the last two countries was 55 and 47 percent, respectively.

In January, production was supported by an increase in demand in the domestic market. There are no official data on coal exports in February, but the source claimed that by the end of January and February, the drop was 9.6 percent.
