OREANDA-NEWS  By the end of 2023, the total volume of cognac production in Russia increased by 35 percent and reached the level of 8.761 million decaliters (dal). A sharp increase is reported by Prime with reference to statistical data from analysts of the Federal Service for Alcohol and Tobacco Market Control (Rosalkogoltabakkontrol).

At the same time, according to the ministry, in 12 months the total production of alcoholic beverages in the country (excluding beer, beer drinks, cider, poiret and mead), on the contrary, decreased by 3.6 percent and fell to the level of 191.669 million dal.

In the first half of November, the Izvestia newspaper, with reference to a letter from Rosalkogoltabakcontrol addressed to Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Sazanov, reported a shortage of cognac distillate. Against this background, the agency proposed to simplify the import of these raw materials from Georgia, bypassing intermediary logistical and financial costs through transit states such as Armenia or Kazakhstan.
