OREANDA-NEWS. Mass production of the fourth-generation Outlander crossover has begun at the Mitsubishi factory in Okazaki. The first batch of cars will go to North America, where the world premiere of the new product will take place on February 16.

The new Outlander combines the latest evolution of Mitsubishi design, high-quality interior finishing materials and outstanding driving characteristics inherited from the rally past of the Japanese brand.

The date of the sales start has not been announced yet, but it is known, that the first new product will be received by the markets of the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, and only then it will appear in Russia and other countries.

Earlier it was reported, that the exterior of the crossover will be very similar to the Engelberg Tourer concept car and will take from it narrowed LED headlights, similar in shape lights and a radiator grille. The only exception will be the missing air intakes in the front fenders and visible exhaust pipes, which the concept did not have.

The new Outlander will be based on the advanced CMF-C/D modular platform from the new Nissan X-Trail, and the range of engines on the global market will include a 2.5-liter gasoline «turbocharger» for 184 forces and a hybrid powerplant, that combines a 2.4-liter internal combustion engine and two electric motors with a total output of 225 horsepower.
