OREANDA-NEWS. The effectiveness of "Sputnik V" against the Indian strain is about 90%, said Denis Logunov, deputy director of the Gamaleya Center for Research, which developed the vaccine.

According to him, the developers are guided by the electronic systems of the UMIAS and EGISZ, which integrally collect information.

"And, according to this information, even with regard to the Indian strain, the effectiveness of the Sputnik vaccine continues to remain at about 90%," Logunov said at a press conference at the Rossiya Segodnya MIA.

Sputnik V protects against the Indian strain, despite a 2.6-fold decrease in effectiveness against it, said Denis Logunov, deputy director of the Gamaleya Center for Research.

“I want to emphasize once again that the 2.6-fold drop is an extremely insignificant drop, which is less than all other vaccines in the world, both Pfizer and Moderna, that animal protection remains 100%,” he said on press conferences in MIA "Russia Today".

Logunov also added that the only way to defend yourself is to follow the path of Israel and get vaccinated.

All Russian vaccines against COVID-19 are safe, well tolerated, and provide immunity, said Oksana Drapkina, director of the National Medical Research Center for Preventive Medicine, chief freelance specialist in therapy and general medical practice of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, head of the Federal Consulting Center for Vaccinations.
