OREANDA-NEWSEnel, the largest energy company in Italy and Europe in terms of market capitalization, took “about” ten days to transfer more than half of its employees to smart working. This was in an interview with Russian media said Enel CEO Francesco Starace.

“We transferred about 37 thousand employees worldwide from Russia to Chile to smart working in about ten days. All people who went to offices now work from home. There was no one left in the office. We did this so that they would not expose themselves to the danger of infection”, said the top manager.

Of the remaining about 30 thousand people who work at power plants, networks and maintain assets, half (about 15 thousand) were sent home on condition that they were in touch and at any time “could come to work if necessary”. Thus, more than 50 thousand of the nearly 70 thousand employees of Enel were sent home.
