OREANDA-NEWSBy the end of this year, China will establish a total of over 600 thousand base stations for the fifth generation network (5G), which will cover all the cities of district significance in the country. This was announced on Monday by the Shanghai Itzai Global information resource, citing data from the Ministry of Industry and Informatization of the PRC.

Currently, the three largest mobile operators in the country - China Unicom, China Telecom and China Mobile - have installed more than 250 thousand base stations, and the total number of fifth-generation communication services users has reached 36 million. As of the end of May, the supply of mobile phones supporting 5G exceeded 59 million units. By the end of the year, this figure, according to the forecast of the department, should be about 180 million units.

Due to some slowdown in the process of creating infrastructure for the 5G network in the first three months of this year against the backdrop of the coronavirus infection pandemic, work in this direction is currently being conducted at an accelerated pace.
