The deputy head of Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, Alexei Sokolov, reported that the exercises on ensuring the stability of the Russian Internet had demonstrated the readiness of government agencies and telecom operators to respond to possible threats effectively.

“The results of the exercises showed that, in general, both authorities and telecom operators are ready to effectively respond to emerging risks and threats, to ensure the stable functioning of both the Internet and the unified telecommunication network in the Russian Federation,” Sokolov told to journalists of RIA Novosti agency.

All-Russian exercises began on December 23.

On December 5, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev explained that due to the implementation of the law on “sovereign Russian Internet”, the country cannot be “cut off” from the world’s Internet.
