OREANDA-NEWS Specialists of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology announced the development of a technological solution for connecting to 5G via satellites. A message about this appeared on the website of the Izvestia publication. It is noted that the new technology will allow residents of remote regions of the country to enjoy the benefits of fifth generation networks without deploying a full-fledged infrastructure of mobile operators on the ground.

First of all, scientists see enterprises engaged in the extraction of natural resources as clients of a satellite solution. Since the deposits of the latter are often far from civilization. However, they do not rule out that the technology will also be used to provide communications for residents of villages in remote regions of Russia.

“There are remote objects to which it is either physically impossible or economically inexpedient to connect ground communication lines. At the same time, there is a need for a 5G wireless network on site to meet the needs of modern enterprises. In this case, the only way out is to use a satellite gateway (communication channel) that allows you to connect the base station to the mainland to transfer all the necessary data, ”Izvestia quoted Roman Zhukov, head of the 5G direction at the MIPT Telecommunications Research Center.

It is expected that a special communication station from MIPT will include antennas, a modem that generates a signal and a unit for working with terrestrial transmitting communication channels. Scientists believe that their development will be ready for use before commercial use of 5G begins in Russia.
