OREANDA-NEWS. October 05, 2016. The first event within the Memorandum of understanding on the implementation of a joint cultural project between PAO Gazprom and Austrian OMV AG – the theatrical gala performance “Imperial Capitals: Saint Petersburg – Vienna” – takes place on October 4th at the Grand Hall of Dmitry Shostakovich St.Petersburg Academic Philharmonia.

This performance is a key cultural event of Saint Petersburg International Gas Forum. Among the guests are Chairman of the Management Committee of PAO Gazprom Alexey Miller and OMV CEO Rainer Seele as well as heads of oil and gas companies. Over 100 children of social institutions of Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region are invited to the event.

The event is a musical performance united by a single plot that stresses the main idea of the project, the imperial spirit of Saint Petersburg and Vienna. The leading musicians, artists, opera singers and ensembles from Russia and Austria are engaged in the show.

All money raised from the ticket sale will be donated to charity foundation that supports providing medical treatment for children.

In response, the next cultural event within the implementation of the Memorandum will be held on December 14th, 2016, in imperial Hofburg Palace of Vienna.

Background

Along with partnership in energy, Gazprom and OMV also cooperate in the cultural sphere.

Several important cultural and social projects have been implemented with support of Gazprom Group and OMV in the last years.

For over 10 years, Gazprom Group and OMV have been helping the comprehensive international Open World project for children that is implemented by Austrian foundation “Energy for Life”, under the auspices of UNESCO and UNICEF.
