OREANDA-NEWS. September 08, 2016. H.E. Mr Jol Morgan, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Transport and Mr Dazhu Yang, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, have signed Seycehlle's Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2016–2020. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

Seychelles has been an IAEA Member State since 2003. Its 2016–2020 CPF identifies 6 priority areas:

1. Increasing  local agricultural production to enhance national food and nutrition security Health
2. Fair and equitable access to health care services for the whole population
3. Development of sustainable Blue Economy
4. Policy formulation and planning for sustainable energy development.
5. Strengthening regulatory and safety infrastructure for application of ionizing radiations
6. Human Resource Development

Implementation of the programmes agreed upon in this CPF will lead to enhancement of the national and institutional capacities to utilize nuclear science and technology to contribute to achievements of national development priorities, as expressed in the National Development Strategy 2015-2019 (NDS) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - and the SIDS Accelerated Modalities of Action (SAMOA) Pathway, in a safe and sustainable manner.
