OREANDA-NEWS  Czech energy company ČEZ initiated arbitration proceedings against Gazprom due to fuel shortages last year. Idnes writes about this.

ČEZ wants to receive compensation from the Russian company in the amount of about one billion crowns (about $ 45 million). The decision on the proceedings, which will be held in Geneva, will be made by a three-person arbitration court, said Ladislav Krzyzh, a spokesman for ČEZ. In December, it was reported that gas storage facilities in the Czech Republic were 84 percent full. Gas reserves in the republic amounted to 2.917 billion cubic meters.

Earlier, the German Uniper also decided to sue Gazprom. Its representatives demanded to compensate the company for the damage, since since June it had not received supplies from Gazprom and was forced to buy fuel at a higher cost in return.
