OREANDA-NEWSTurkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan invited the Russian leader Vladimir Putin to jointly control the oil reserves of the Syrian Deir ez-Zor, which are used by terrorists. He stated this in an interview with the Turkish television channel.

“I suggested the following to Putin: let’s lift the destroyed Syria to our feet with the help of oil received from here: Turkey will carry out contract work, and Russia will support the financial side of the issue”, Erdogan said. According to him, if the parties agree, then he can make a similar proposal to US President Donald Trump. Both Washington and Moscow have plans for Syrian oil, the latter, in particular, is interested in the Kamyshly field, he noted.

Putin responded to the proposal with the phrase: “Maybe”, Erdogan said. According to him, now terrorists are using the deposits, who don't process the received raw materials. “But if it's bought and processed, we have the opportunity to restore Syria”, the Turkish president concluded.
