OREANDA-NEWS. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko believes that while the EAEU countries have not entered the common energy markets and in the current crisis situation, including with the pandemic, the price of natural gas should be more flexible. He stated this on Tuesday at a working meeting of members of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in a videoconference mode.

“First of all, this concerns prices and payments for gas. Obviously, with such a sharp change in the economic situation, the price should be more adaptive, and the settlement mechanism should be lifting for consumers”, said Lukashenko, quoted by a Belarusian news agency.

He noted that countries have entered into a crisis with an unresolved basic issue for sustainable economic activity. "This is energy, prices for resources and payments for them. Such rigidity negatively affects the entire value chain. It means that it undermines the stability of the functioning of the union", the head of state said.
