OREANDA-NEWS. During the launch of the gas pipeline TurkStream in Istanbul on January 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that during laying it, a world record for the speed of underwater pipe assembly was set – more than six kilometers per day.

The politician emphasized that construction workers used the most modern machinery. He added that TurkStream is an unprecedented gas transmission system. “The project is of great importance not only for the economy of Turkey and the Black Sea region, but also for the economies of other countries,” Putin stated.

TurkStream is a gas pipeline consisting of two lines with a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters each. The first is destined for the supply of Russian gas to Turkey, the second will deliver fuel to the countries of Southern and Southeast Europe.
