OREANDA-NEWS Russian fuel has been coming through Latvia to Ukraine for several months using forged documents, according to the program Nekā personīga ("Nothing personal") on the TV3 channel.

According to journalists, at the beginning of the year, three tankers with fuel entered the port of Riga from St. Petersburg, the total cost of the cargo exceeds € 100 million. Among them were the vessels NS Point and NS Pride of Sovcomflot, they delivered fuel to the warehouses of PARS Terminals. In January and February, journalists noticed several dozen fuel trucks from Ukraine near the warehouses. On April 4, trucks with Ukrainian license plates were also waiting on the territory of the terminal and next to it.

The publication reminds that until February 5, the day the embargo on Russian petroleum products came into force, the import of fuel from Russia was not considered a violation of EU sanctions. This was also stated in the Latvian Foreign Ministry, noting that diesel fuel imported before the specified date can be sold. At the same time, Russian fuel cannot be imported to Ukraine for more than a year, the ministry said. PARS Terminals informed the publication that the fuel is Kazakh, the cargo has been declared and all the necessary documents and certificates are available. The same was reported to journalists in the company Orlen Lietuva, on whose behalf the certificate was issued. The organization appealed to the customs department, where it turned out that similar documents had been used earlier, in January, and the papers were fake.

The authors of the transfer Nekā personīga reported on such transportation back in February, but the Department of the Tax and Customs Police of Latvia did not initiate a criminal case. The Prosecutor's office decided that the decision was made prematurely, and sent the materials for a new review. Now they are at the stage of departmental examination in the customs police.
