OREANDA-NEWS The USA will continue to counteract the "Nord stream-2" on the side of Ukraine and are ready to offer its help. This said the head of the US Department of Energy Rick Perry on his official Twitter page.

The Minister thanked the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko for his commitment to the diversification of energy supplies. "The US continues to oppose the Nord stream 2 and any source of energy that could be used as a hostage by unstable state actors," he wrote.

"The US is ready to support its allies with huge reserves of available energy," Rick Perry assured.

A day earlier, Perry said that the United States has a common position with Ukraine to counter the "Nord stream-2". He noted that Kiev is interested in American assistance in the development of the country's hydrocarbon reserves. In addition, in September, the first Ukrainian vessel with cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States arrived in Odessa.

"Nord stream-2" will pass through the Baltic sea in the territorial waters of five countries — Russia, Finland, Sweden, Germany and Denmark. Its design capacity is 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The main purpose of the pipeline construction is to exclude the dependence of European consumers of Gazprom on the Ukrainian gas transportation system. At the same time, Germany, which will be a key consumer of the gas that will go through the pipe, noted that it agreed to the project only while maintaining alternative transit directions, first of all, Ukraine. Kiev has repeatedly stated that Nord stream 2 is a threat to national security due to falling revenues and the growing dependence of the European Union on Russian energy resources.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine will Demand Compensation in Case of Starting "Nord stream-2".
