Apple Music orders up 16 episodes of upcoming 'Carpool Karaoke' series
The series will include 16 episodes and will be produced (but not hosted) by James Corden, CBS Television Studios, and Ben Winston's (another producer) production company, Fulwell 73. (Editors' Note: CNET is owned by CBS.)
The format of the show will remain largely the same as the original late-night segments. Each episode will have a celebrity riding in a car and singing along songs from their personal playlists. The ride-alongs will stop by places that are meaningful to the guests as well.
"The joy of Carpool is both the intimacy it creates, while seeing the love our passengers have for music," said Winston in a statement. "Where better to showcase that than with Apple Music."
The episodes will be available weekly to Apple Music subscribers in more than 100 countries. No specific host information or premiere date has been released.
Despite the full show, CBS has confirmed that "Carpool Karaoke" will indeed "continue as a recurring segment on 'The Late Late Show with James Corden.'"
So far, "Carpool Karaoke" has proven to be very popular among online audiences. Its highest-ranking segment is with English singer and songwriter Adele, which garnered 119 million views in six months. Last week, First Lady Michelle Obama joined Corden to drive by the Oval Office and belt out Beyonce's "Single Ladies."
