OREANDA-NEWS. July 01, 2016. The Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport Board has approved new parking rates for the Airport that will take effect September 1, 2016. The new rates cover Terminal, Valet, Express and Remote Parking options as well as the pass-through rate for commuter traffic.

The drop-off rate for those picking up or dropping off passengers in the 8 to 30-minute time period, and the 30 minute to two hour window both remain the same. Other parking rates will go up either \\$1 or \\$2 per day. For example, Terminal Parking will go from \\$22 per day to \\$24 per day and Remote Parking will go from \\$9 a day to \\$10 per day. Under the new pricing, DFW remains price-competitive with major airports for parking rates, and below the national average for major airports. Remote Parking remains competitive with local off-airport property parking options with uncovered parking rates average at \\$10.50, DFW’s Remote Parking rate is \\$10.

DFW will also establish the 0 – 8 minutes rate billed at \\$4, which is targeted toward the 5,000 commuter vehicles that pass-through the Airport daily.  A total of 36,000 drivers access the Airport daily. DFW offers a total of 41,851 parking spaces across five Terminal garages, two Express lots, two Remote lots and Valet services.

DFW has invested more than \\$463 million for parking and roadway infrastructure projects. As part of the investment, DFW also implemented a new Parking Control System and expanded the control plazas, which opened to the public in September 2013. The new system allows all 65 transactional lanes to read TollTags to increase efficiency at the control plazas. Currently, the airport processes 1.4 transactions every second.

“DFW has invested heavily in our parking products and parking control infrastructure in the last five years, the most evident to customers are our new parking garages, entry plazas and the electronic parking guidance system installed in the new garages which literally light the way for a customer to easily locate a space,” said Ken Buchanan, executive vice president of Revenue Management. “Even with the change in rates, we are competitive to off-airport parking options and still one of the best parking deals among global hub airports in the United States.”

In 2013, DFW opened the new Terminal A garage featuring the state-of-the-art Parking Guidance System (PGS). Terminal D parking garage was also fitted with PGS in 2013. Most recently, Terminal E opened half of the new garage, featuring PGS, the full Terminal E garage will open to the public by the end of this year.

Starting this fall, DFW will start replacing entry/exit columns at the control plazas to implement QR code readers, Apple Pay and credit card chip readers to ensure the system is compliance with new credit card security measures.
