OREANDA-NEWS. June 21, 2016.
Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:DLB) has reached a significant landmark
with its Dolby Atmos® sound technology, confirming there are now over
600 screens installed or committed across the EMEA region.
Dolby received a major boost in the number of Dolby Atmos screens from
new and existing partners in the region, such as NOS Cinemas, Globusmax
and Traumpalast, helping Dolby reach this significant achievement. These
partners, among others, are planning for an additional 95 Dolby Atmos
screens to open between 2016 and 2017.
"This influx of customer wins is clear evidence of the momentum that we
continue to see with Dolby Atmosm," said
Andreas Spechtler, President of
Dolby International. "With the commitment to open these new screens,
we're delighted to continue to bring immersive and breathtakingly
realistic sound to audiences across EMEA."
A trend has also emerged in the region, whereby new multiplexes open
with Dolby Atmos fitted throughout. Earlier this year (March),
Israeli-based Globusmax opened a brand new 17-screen Dolby Atmos only
multiplex in Haifa. This will be followed by another new 15-screen Dolby
Atmos only multiplex that is scheduled to open (July) in Kefar Saba. The
Traumpalast partnership also plans to unveil its new Dolby Atmos only
multiplex in Germany in July 2016. The new Traumpalast in Leonberg will
have 10-screens, all featuring Dolby Atmos immersive sound.
Momentum for Dolby Atmos continues to grow worldwide also, with more
than 1,800 Dolby Atmos screens installed or committed to in more than 60
countries, more than 130 mixing facilities worldwide and more than 465
titles announced with support from all major Hollywood studios. For the
