OREANDA-NEWS. June 15, 2016.  Apple iPads have had the ability to display picture-in-picture mode for video playback since the introduction of iOS 9, but Netflix was slow to add the feature to its app, until today. The streaming video service just released version 8.7.0 in the iTunes store and the update can now minimize videos so you can watch them while multitasking on an iPad.

The picture-in-picture support requires iOS version 9.3.2 or later to work. Using a compatible iPad, the video will automatically shrink into thumbnail mode when you hit the home button or switch to a different app. From there, you can pinch to adjust the size of the viewing window or drag it around to reposition it on the screen.

You can still pull another window in from the Slide Over menu on the right, but you can't play two videos at once. The update also adds stability improvements and fixes bugs throughout the app.

You can grab the update now from the iTunes App store on your iPad or download the app by clicking here.
