Poland's Lotos takes Iranian crude

OREANDA-NEWS. July 11, 2016. Polish oil firm Lotos, which operates the 210,000 b/d Gdansk refinery, has bought 2mn bl of medium sour Iranian Light crude as a "test shipment".

The cargo departed Iran's Kharg island on the Atlantas bound for Gdansk, for August delivery. Iran's NIOC could supply more cargoes to Lotos, although both firms say the present purchase is a one-off.

The Gdansk refinery runs predominantly Russian medium sour Urals, although it has been diversifying its crude slate recently. Urals made up three-quarters of the refinery's throughputs in the first quarter, with seaborne imports accounting for most of the rest.
