OREANDA-NEWS Prices for electronics in Russia will not go back to February levels in the near future because of difficulties with foreign suppliers and difficulties with logistics, said Dmitry Vinogradov, head of distributor Merlion (Apple, Samsung), RBC reports.

According to him, the Russian market used to be supported by foreign vendors. They fought for a share of the domestic market, arranging all sorts of promotions. Because of this, the prices in Russia were on average lower than in Europe or Central Asia.

He added that there are now logistics bottlenecks, and some producers have left the Russian market altogether. Due to problems with air travel, logistics costs have also increased. However, due to the strengthening of the ruble and reduction of the Central Bank rate, the cost of goods may start to decrease as early as in the third quarter of 2022.

Earlier, Eldar Murtazin, a leading analyst of Mobile Research Group, when asked why retailers raise prices for "gray" electronics, said that parallel imports of smartphones and other electronics in Russia will not be able to reduce prices for consumers, even despite the strengthening of the ruble.
