OREANDA-NEWS Prices in Russia fell the most last year for buckwheat, potatoes and oatmeal, according to an analysis by RIA Novosti of Rosstat data.

By the end of 2023, these products fell in price by 18.8 percent, 15.8 percent and 9.6 percent, respectively. The top five products with the most severe deflation also included a thermometer (minus 7.2 percent) and a TV (minus 6.4 percent).

Prices for a desktop computer monitor decreased by 6.2 percent, and for vermicelli — by 4.2 percent.
Washing machines fell in price by 3.7 percent last year, and pasta by 3.63 percent. In addition, the cost of the insurance policy decreased by 3.6 percent.

In general, every tenth product, the prices of which are monitored by Rosstat, fell in price last year, although the cost of about half of them decreased by less than one percent.


At the same time, almost two thirds of the goods monitored by the agency in 2023 rose in price less than the official inflation of 7.4 percent. Among them are gasoline AI-95 (6.7 percent), sparkling wine (five percent), fish fillets (4.7 percent), dumplings (3.8 percent), ice cream (3.3 percent), yogurt (1.3 percent) and tea (one percent).
