iTunes Match soon coming to all Apple Music subscribers
OREANDA-NEWS. July 19, 2016. Apple will roll out its iTunes Match service to all Apple Music subscribers, starting Monday, according to Apple news site The Loop. That means it'll use an algorithm to judge which song is in your iTunes library and then add it to your account, making it available for you to listen to from the cloud.
This is an upgrade from the previous system, which only looked at a song's metadata. Complaints about this system have been widespread, with users finding Apple Music did a poor job of distinguishing between studio and live versions, or worse. There were even concerns that the song-matching system was replacing or deleting users' music in their own libraries, erasing files and substituting the wrong version in the cloud.
Users could previously pay separately for iTunes Match, but now it will all part of the Apple Music subscription, The Loop reported.
Apple didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
