OREANDA-NEWS In 2023, Latvia supplied Russia with whiskey for a record amount, three times ahead of all other exporters combined, RIA Novosti reports.

Latvia accounted for the main share of supplies to Russia — 73% of the total volume in monetary terms, or $251.2 million. Lithuania took the second place, supplying $39 million worth of whiskey.

The UK exported $14.8 million worth of whiskey to Russia. France and Armenia supplied products worth $7 million.

The agency notes that Latvia and Lithuania increased supplies to Russia by 3.5 and 4 times compared to 2022. At the same time, whiskey exports from the UK and France decreased by 23% and 27%.

Earlier it was reported that the supply of imported alcohol to Russia by the end of 2023 increased by 7%, to more than 520 million liters.

In January, it became known that the Russian producer and distributor of alcohol Ladoga began contract production of whiskey in China under the Kubao brand. The first batch of bottles has already been imported into Russia and is available for purchase.
