OREANDA-NEWS  In October, live larvae of the genus apisakis, nematodes, scrapers, trematodes, and cestodes were found in red caviar from three producers on Sakhalin. Izvestia learned about this from the Primorsky interregional Rosselkhoznadzor administration. Parasites can cause serious harm to human health, in particular, because of them, acute ulcers with perforation and necrosis of the stomach and intestinal wall can develop, the publication indicates.

We are talking about the companies "SAKHRYBTORG", LLC "Sah Gold Fish", LLC PKK "Bride". The Rosselkhoznadzor, which conducted the study, stressed that during the examination the caviar was seized and, in principle, it is intended for the production of finished products and does not go on sale. At the same time, the service did not disclose the volume of products that turned out to be of poor quality.

Also in October, the Primorsky Interregional Department of the Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service recorded a violation against Yuzhmorrybflot JSC. The company produced 14,256 kilograms of "Assorted delicatessen" from 8,992 kilograms of liver and pollock caviar, which is 1.6 times more than the raw materials used. Thus, products from raw materials of unknown origin have been put on sale, which can be dangerous for the consumer.

The Public Council at Rospotrebnadzor warned that before the New Year, violations in the industry could grow greatly. Deputy Chairman of the Council, head of the Public Consumer Initiative Oleg Pavlov noted that the real scale of violations, according to the organization, is even more significant.

Fraud in the Russian caviar market was also recorded by the Union of Sturgeon Breeders. According to the organization, 40 percent of the Russian market of sturgeon caviar is now filled with imported counterfeit — producers massively sell cheap Chinese black caviar under the guise of Russian. Caviar from China is cheaper, but it can be dangerous for consumers. In China, hundreds of small farms grow sturgeon, often in very unfavorable environmental conditions.
