OREANDA-NEWS Coffee shops in Russia will reduce the requirements for coffee beans. This was told by the sales manager of the importing company RTC-Trading Sergey Rybenko in an interview with Izvestia.

It is clarified that coffee importers still buy goods from foreign suppliers for dollars, so the growing exchange rate against the ruble regulates the prices of coffee beans.

According to Rybenko, the situation is unlikely to change in the near future. Prices for Arabica in the last six months have been kept at the level of 1.5–1.6 dollars per pound (0.453 kilograms). This is 1.5 times higher than in 2020. The cost of a ton of robusta fell from June to October from 2.8 thousand dollars to 2.4 thousand dollars. These varieties are brought from Central America, Asia and Africa.

Earlier, the Ethiopian authorities imposed a temporary ban for air passengers to export coffee from the country.
