OREANDA-NEWS The Netherlands, Colombia and Ecuador exported the most flowers in the world last year, the total value of their global supplies amounted to 6.6 billion dollars.

The absolute leader in the flower trade last year was the Netherlands, which sold $ 4.6 billion worth of flowers in a total volume of 552 thousand tons. The top three "flower beds" in the world also included Colombia, which exported 143 thousand tons of flowers worth 1.1 billion dollars, and Ecuador, which exported 181 thousand tons worth 987 million dollars.

Also, the top five flower exporters included Kenya - 387 million dollars (64 thousand tons) and Nigeria - 157 million dollars (97 thousand tons). Italy closes the top ten in bouquet exports, whose exports in 2023 amounted to 126 million dollars (16 thousand tons), China - 110 million dollars (34 thousand tons), Canada - 109 million dollars (34 thousand tons), Malaysia - 76 million dollars (23 thousand tons) and South Africa - 61 million dollars (8 thousand tons).

At the same time, among the export leaders, Nigeria increased its supplies the most over the year - by 4 times, according to RIA Novosti, and most of all they decreased in Colombia - by almost 49%, Kenya - by 38% and China - by 32%.

Among other countries, the export of flowers grew the most last year in Estonia - 86 times in annual terms, up to 105 thousand dollars, in Namibia - 85 times, up to 16 thousand dollars, in Tunisia - 35 times, up to 153 thousand dollars, in Trinidad and Tobago - 19 times, up to 15.5 thousand dollars, and Ireland's - 13 times, up to 4 million dollars.
According to the results of last year, Russia exported flowers for only 40 thousand dollars. Of these supplies, 86% came from the main buyer of Russian flowers - Armenia.
