OREANDA-NEWS  Since the beginning of 2023, the total supply of mandarins from China to the Amur region has increased by more than 15 times compared to 2022 and reached the level of three thousand tons. This was reported by the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for the Amur Region and Yakutia.

For comparison, for the whole of last year, China supplied a total of only 191 tons to the Amur region. In total, 256 tons of lemons and 240 tons of oranges were imported to the Russian region in 2023. In 2022, the indicators were at 62 and 52 tons, respectively, the ministry said.

The Regional Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor linked a sharp increase in imports of Chinese citrus fruits primarily with the commissioning of the Kani-Kurgan customs and logistics terminal in 2023. Against this background, about 40 thousand tons of fruit and vegetable products were imported from China to the Amur region. At the same time, all products were checked by inspectors, and fruits were transported to the Amur region in accordance with quarantine requirements.

Earlier, analysts at the IT company ATOL reported that the average cost of a New Year's table in Russia has increased by 14 percent since the beginning of 2023 and amounted to 3,329 rubles. During this period of time, a kilogram of tangerines will cost citizens 17 percent more. The cost of this type of citrus in the country for the year, according to experts, reached the level of 211 rubles per kilogram.
