OREANDA-NEWS  The airport of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky was closed until 15:00 local time (06:00 GMT) due to a snow cyclone, Interfax reports with reference to the press service of the air hub.

"The plane flying to Kamchatka from Novosibirsk, went to the alternate airport in Magadan. The Board from Moscow managed to arrive before the closure of the Kamchatka airport," the airport said. They noted that in the second half of the day the plane should arrive from Khabarovsk, and all flights within the region are canceled until the weather conditions improve.

On the website of the government of Kamchatka it is reported that on December 18 in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky precipitation in the form of snow, Blizzard and wind increase to 25-30 m/s are expected due to weather conditions, the Governor recommended to reduce the working day for women.

At the same time, the regional emergency Department warned that on this day in the waters of the Bering sea and the Pacific ocean declared a storm warning - there are expected waves of 8-10 m.

 The airport was closed due to the icing of the runway and almost zero visibility.

Today should fly in flight from Novosibirsk. The arrival of the aircraft from Khabarovsk was postponed to Wednesday.

Flights to Vladivostok and Novosibirsk are being prepared for departure from Kamchatka. The departure of the aircraft to Khabarovsk and Moscow was postponed to December 19.
