OREANDA-NEWS  Irish airline CityJet refused to operate Russian Sukhoi Superjet-100 (SSJ-100) and returned them to the lessor. This is written on Monday, the newspaper "Vedomosti" with reference to the top managers of the two leasing companies.

"The Irish airline CityJet returns seven ships group, "VEB.RF ", - stated in the publication.

Information about the airline's refusal to use the SSJ-100 is confirmed by the data of the portal for tracking Flightradar24 aircraft, the newspaper writes. So, five SSJ-100 in January 2019 flew to Dublin or Shannon and since then are there. Two more aircraft last autumn went to Venice, where they are still standing. Information about SSJ-100 is missing from CityJet website.

Some of these vessels may be delivered by Azimut's WEB leasing for its new corporate transportation project, two sources close to the Russian carrier told Vedomosti. They can fall the choice, if the aircraft "would be better approached from the point of view of the interiors".

CityJet was the only European operator of the Russian aircraft. The contract for the supply of SSJ-100 was signed at the end of 2015. Subsequently, however, Brussels Airlines, for which CityJet operated flights, refused to rent the SSJ-100. The airline explained this by the lack of spare parts, due to which the aircraft is too long idle.

Earlier it was reported that the manufacturer of aircraft SSJ-100, "Sukhoi Civil Aircraft" (SCAC), will supply the Thai Kom Airlines Company six aircraft in 2019-2020 years.  It is noted that in accordance with the preliminary agreement, the aircraft will be delivered in the layout for 100 seats and will operate flights both within the country and abroad on the nearest international routes.
