Lufthansa Representative Reported about Possibility of Bankruptcy
OREANDA-NEWS. The German airline Lufthansa, in a course of a dispute with the state over the conditions for the payment of a multi-billion-dollar aid package, is considering the possibility of bankruptcy, in which the company will retain management of its assets.
This was stated in an interview with the magazine Focus by a representative of the Supervisory Board of Lufthansa on May 29. According to him, this type of bankruptcy has clear advantages over state’s assistance. Such bankruptcy will allow the company to suspend the refund of tickets in a sum of 1.8 billion euros, as well as simplify the dismissal of staff and the closure of unprofitable subsidiaries. “The rejection of the assistance package will signal the federal government about the need for new negotiations with Brussels,” the representative of the airline resumed. However, as a result of bankruptcy, not 10 thousand, but much more employees of the holding can lose their jobs.
