OREANDA-NEWS The Flight Safety Committee of the Union of Aircraft Producers of Russia has proposed at the legislative level to reduce the number of foreign aircraft used in Russia, the Izvestia newspaper reported, Gazeta.ru reported.

The corresponding idea was voiced at the joint meeting of the Expert Council on Aviation Industry of the State Duma Committee on Industry and the Committee on Aviation Industry of the Union of Russian Engineers on May 31.

It is offered to reduce the number of foreign planes in Russia in order to prevent the risks associated with the "destructive actions of foreign manufacturers and their authorities". It is not specified how many foreign airliners should stay in Russia.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal quoted sources as saying that Boeing had temporarily halted production of the 737 MAX aircraft in May for about ten days because of supply chain problems.
