OREANDA-NEWS. On April 19, 2017 elections to the subsidiary bodies of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) were held at the organisational session of ECOSOC, which is held at the UN Headquarters in New York.

Belarus was unanimously elected to several ECOSOC subsidiary bodies: to the Executive Board of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), to the Committee for Programme and Coordination (CPC) and to the Commission for Social Development (CSocD).

Background Information: The UNICEF Executive Board is the governing body of the Fund, which reviews UNICEF activities and approves its policies and budget, adopts country programs. The Executive Board consists of 36 Members that represent the five regional groups at the United Nations.

The UN Committee on Programme and Coordination reviews the implementation of UN programs, evaluates the results achieved and makes proposals for the program and budget activities of the Organization. The committee consists of 31 Member States of the United Nations.
