OREANDA-NEWS. During the conversation the interlocutors discussed practical issues of cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union in the energy sector, in particular the provision of Ukrainian and European consumers with natural gas.

Referring to an issue of natural gas transit via the territory of Ukraine, Volodymyr Groysman stressed that the Ukrainian side is a reliable transit country to the member-states of the EU.

Maroš Šefčovič assured of the EU’s support for the Government's efforts to reform Ukraine's energy sector. The Vice-President of the Commission also announced about the readiness of the EU to grant to Ukraine the sum worth EUR 100 million to fill the Energy Efficiency Fund, noting the need for the adoption by the Ukrainian Parliament of laws on the Energy Efficiency Fund, on the electricity market, on the regulatory authority in energy and utilities.
